The study was conducted to address the limited effectiveness of media use in improving students’ oral communication skills. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups: a comparison group taught using animated video and an experimental group taught using instructional video. The participants were selected through random sampling. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test speaking assessments, which measured pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques to identify differences in speaking performance between the two groups. The findings showed that students in the instructional video group demonstrated significantly greater improvement in speaking ability compared to those in the animated video group. The study concluded that instructional video was more effective in enhancing students’ speaking skills. These findings suggested that the selection of appropriate instructional media played a crucial role in improving language learning outcomes.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Muhammad Imam Apriansyah, Mursidah Rahmah, Asih Wahyuni https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/60 The Role of School Management in Fostering Creativity and Critical Thinking among Elementary School Students: A Case Study 2026-04-28T09:44:49+00:00 Yudhie Suchyadi [email protected] Rini Sri Indriani [email protected] Wawan Syahiril Anwar [email protected] Muthia Khairunnisa Putri Yusup [email protected]
This study examined the role of school management in fostering creativity and critical thinking among elementary school students at SD Islam Nurul Iman, Parung. The study was conducted to address the limited development of higher-order thinking skills due to constraints in managerial capacity and lack of systemic support at the school level. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving the principal, teachers, and students as key informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicated that school management contributed significantly to the development of creativity and critical thinking through four main dimensions: instructional leadership, curriculum innovation, collaborative school culture, and a supportive learning environment. Instructional leadership improved teachers’ pedagogical practices, while curriculum innovation promoted student-centered and project-based learning. A collaborative culture and a supportive environment encouraged active participation and critical dialogue among students. The study concluded that integrative and adaptive school management played a crucial role in developing students’ higher-order thinking skills. These findings provided practical implications for improving the quality of elementary education.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Yudhie Suchyadi, Rini Sri Indriani, Wawan Syahiril Anwar, Muthia Khairunnisa Putri Yusup https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/63 Sociocultural Adaptation Experiences of Students in the Merdeka Student Exchange Program (PMM) 4: A Phenomenological Study 2026-04-28T09:22:02+00:00 Dea Nisfuha Anindya [email protected] Muhammad Aris Ichwanto [email protected] Fadila Fitria Wulandari [email protected] Ahmad Yudi Mubarroq [email protected] Faradifa Amelia Ahsahro [email protected]
This study explored the social and cultural adaptation experiences of students participating in the Merdeka Student Exchange Program (PMM) 4 in a new campus environment. The study was conducted to address the challenges faced by students when adapting to diverse social and cultural contexts outside their home regions. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, involving participants who had completed one semester of the program. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using phenomenological procedures, including the identification of significant statements, formulation of meanings, clustering of themes, and validation through member checking. The findings revealed five major themes: initial experiences in the new environment, dynamics of social interaction and cultural differences, adaptation processes and challenges, adaptation strategies and environmental support, and the meaning of adaptation in the context of diversity. Students encountered emotional, social, academic, and cultural challenges but were able to overcome them through active engagement in social interactions and support from their surroundings. The study concluded that adaptation was a multidimensional process that enhanced students’ adjustment and shaped their perspectives in valuing diversity. These findings provided practical insights for improving student support systems in exchange programs.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Dea Nisfuha Anindya, Muhammad Aris Ichwanto, Fadila Fitria Wulandari, Ahmad Yudi Mubarroq, Faradifa Amelia Ahsahro https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/55 Strategic Planning Based on Local Wisdom for Strengthening Cultural Identity and Socio-Economic Progress in Secondary Education 2026-04-28T15:30:19+00:00 Yeni Handayani [email protected] Rais Hidayat [email protected]
This study examined the implementation of strategic planning based on local wisdom as a model for strengthening cultural identity and socio-economic development in a senior high school in Banyuresmi District. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with school stakeholders, participatory observation, and document analysis of school strategic planning instruments, including the strategic plan (Renstra), school activity and budget plan (RKAS), and school curriculum documents (KSP). The findings indicated that the school had integrated local wisdom values from Banyuresmi, particularly the philosophy of Gapura Pancawaluya (Cageur, Bageur, Bener, Pinter, Singer), into its vision, mission, and flagship extracurricular program known as Asgar Singer (barbering). This program provided vocational skill development while simultaneously fostering students’ character, independence, creativity, and social responsibility, as well as preserving local cultural heritage. The study concluded that strategic planning grounded in local wisdom served as an effective approach to achieving the Pancasila Student Profile and strengthening the alignment between local cultural values and national education policies. It also contributed to enhancing community socio-economic progress through school-based empowerment.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Yeni Handayani, Rais Hidayat https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/64 Comparative Effectiveness of STEAM and Scientific Approaches on Elementary Students’ Learning Outcomes in Social Studies: The Case of Indonesian Cultural Diversity 2026-04-28T16:57:43+00:00 Suci Lathifah [email protected] Siti Nurhalisa [email protected] Bintang Ramadhani [email protected]
This study examined the effectiveness of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach compared to the scientific approach in improving elementary students’ learning outcomes in Social Studies on the topic of cultural diversity. The study was conducted to address the limited student understanding of contextual Social Studies content. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design was employed, involving fourth-grade students from two elementary schools assigned to different instructional approaches. Data were collected using a validated learning outcomes test and analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The results indicated that the STEAM approach produced higher learning gains than the scientific approach. The STEAM group achieved a mean gain score of 0.65, while the scientific group obtained 0.42. The mean post-test score of the STEAM group (83.6) was higher than that of the scientific group (76.4), with a statistically significant difference (p = 0.003). The study concluded that the STEAM approach was more effective in enhancing students’ understanding of cultural diversity. These findings suggested that integrative and contextual learning approaches could improve Social Studies learning outcomes.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Suci Lathifah, Siti Nurhalisa, Bintang Ramadhani https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/56 Epistemological Foundations of Character Education Management Based on Local Values: The Case of Pancawaluya 2026-03-09T06:00:01+00:00 Fetie Febrianty [email protected] Yeni Handayani [email protected]
This study examined the epistemological foundations of character education management based on local values through the framework of Pancawaluya in West Java, Indonesia. The study was conducted to address the limited integration of local value systems in educational decision-making. A qualitative conceptual approach was employed through a review of scholarly literature and policy documents published between 2015 and 2025, complemented by limited interviews with curriculum developers and school supervisors to provide contextual understanding. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key epistemological perspectives underlying character education management. The findings indicated that Pancawaluya functioned as a set of living values rooted in social practices and intergenerational traditions. The analysis further showed that effective character education management required the integration of positivist, constructivist, and critical epistemological perspectives. This integration produced a hybrid managerial rationality that combined data-based accountability, participatory meaning-making, and reflective consideration of justice and student well-being. The study concluded that local values could serve not only as instructional content but also as an epistemological foundation for decision-making in character education. These findings provided insights for strengthening value-based educational management.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Fetie Febrianty, Yeni Handayani https://pedagonal-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/pedagonal/article/view/57 Optimizing Lecturer Engagement through Educational Human Resource Development: A POP-HR Approach 2026-04-28T15:41:11+00:00 Zainuri Zainuri [email protected] Sri Setyaningsih [email protected] Herfina Herfina [email protected]
This study examined educational human resource development strategies using the Modeling and Optimization of Management Resources (POP-HR) approach to strengthen lecturer engagement in higher education. The study was conducted to address the limited effectiveness of human resource management in fostering lecturer engagement. A mixed-methods design was employed, beginning with qualitative exploration and followed by quantitative modeling using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), and prioritization through SITOREM analysis. Data were collected from lecturers and analyzed to identify key factors influencing engagement. The findings indicated that lecturer empowerment, reward effectiveness, and leadership aligned with the Tut Wuri Handayani principle significantly influenced professional commitment and organizational culture, which in turn enhanced lecturer engagement. Mediation analysis showed that professional commitment provided the most consistent pathway in translating managerial interventions into increased engagement. The study concluded that the POP-HR approach offered a systematic framework for optimizing human resource strategies through factor mapping, causal modeling, and priority setting. These findings suggested that targeted investments in empowerment, meaningful rewards, organizational culture, and adaptive leadership were essential in improving lecturer engagement.
2026-04-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Zainuri Syailendra, Sri Setyaningsih, Herfina Herfina
